Farm Technician 

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and reliable agricultural fitter/mechanic to join our Team!

We farm 3000 acres of Top Fruit over Kent, with our workshop based at Bobbing, Sittingbourne.

The role would entail maintenance of our modern and classic tractors, alongside our trailers,  Bab and Munkoft sprayers.

The position is available immediately, and look forward to offering a full time, permanent role within our Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance of agricultural machinery including, but not limited to tractors, sprayers and trailers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an agricultural fitter.

Working Hours and Benefits:

  • Full time, permanent position.
  • Workshop based at Bobbing, Sittingbourne.
  • Full training given in business procedures and operating protocols.
  • Salary £32,500 per annum, based on 45 hours per week.
  • Overtime £16.85 after 45 hours.

The Role:

Line Leaders are responsible for ensuring the team operates within the quality and hygiene standards of both the company and the customer at all times. They must also ensure the correct specifications and production targets are met.

The role requires effective communication across departments to ensure our dispatch function operates efficiently, following Company procedures and best practices.

 

The Candidate:

Experience within food production.

Experience in managing and monitoring a team.

Proficient in Office and Excel.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Detail orientated.

Good understanding of production processes (company training provided).

 

Core Responsibilities:

Ensure company and customer paperwork is completed to required standard

Liaise with other production departments to ensure company requirements are met.

Ensure the team carry out their roles effectively and efficiently in accordance with training.

To carry out all checks and processes that are relevant and report and deviations.

To be responsible for controlling, monitoring and minimising waste.

Monitor and record the required frequency relevant checks e.g, weight checks, ph, labelling and coding and actioning any deviations in line with procedure

Monitor and record at the required frequency all product temperatures from raw materials, pre-process, post process, final packed product and distribution reporting and actioning any deviations from the specification.

Carrying out general start up checks including check weighers and metal detectors before production commences and then report and action any issues where appropriate.

Monitor and record all Quality standards, ensuring the quality of the product is maintained, reporting any deviations from the specification.

  • Thinning is the removal of excess fruit by hand, in our orchards across Kent.
  • Working as both part of a Team and individually, following specification for removal.

Thinners will also be expected to:

  • Have great attention to detail
  • Be able to work as part of a Team
  • Work to grower specification
  • Follow both Hygiene, and Health & Safety Policies and procedures 

Working Hours and Benefits:

  • Our thinning period last around 4 to 6 weeks
  • Thinners work 6 days per week, averaging 50 hours per week
  • Pay - £8.91 basic, with overtime after 40 hours paid at £11.13 per hour.

Quality Control within Top Fruit pack house in Hoo, Kent.

Job Description

  • To Ensure product has met the customer specifications
  • Checking labels
  • Complete RAW material checks - pressure testing and brix testing
  • Shelf life samples and testing
  • Complete online quality checks, ensuring product is packed correctly
  • Complete final positive release checks of the quality, before dispatch
  • Complete relevant documentation in a timely manner to ensure all requirements are met
  • Understanding and using the customer order sheets, stock reports on Cirrus (training will be provided)

QC's are also expected to:

  • Have great attention to detail
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Monitor fruit packer performance and report any issues to Management
  • Provide appropriate training to new employees
  • Have a basic understanding of stock control systems
  • To ensure that all employees working within the production areas always adhere to the Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and procedures

Working Hours and Benefits

  • Full training will be given in business procedures and operating protocols
  • Our packing facility operates 7 days per week, with a rota system in place over 5 days, 
  • Salary - £26,936 based on a 45 hour week

  • Once qualified, pay will increase to £9.10 basic and £11.37 overtime, with further progression possible

We are currently seeking LGV Drivers (CE) to join our Team at our Hoo depot in Kent.

Position available primarily for LGV Class 1 Driver (CE). 

Suitable applicants would need to be flexible, hardworking, and have good communication skills.

All available shifts include weekends on a rolling rota.

Job Description:

  • Various trailer work including, fridge, curtain and container work.
  • Loading/unloading at times using either a fork lift truck or electric pump truck.
  • Ensuring that you adhere to Company Hygiene and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Full training provided to operate machine/tools required.

Applicants must have:

  • Full clean driving licence
  • Held either a Full Gb, NI or EU Licence to drive a vehicle of the same class for a period of at least 2 years.
  • previous experience of at least 2 years is required in a vehicle greater than 7.5 tonnes.
  • Valid Driver Qualification Card (DCPC).
  • Cat D (PCV) would be an advantage.
  • Fork lift licence would be an advantage.
