We are looking for the Gatehouse/ Yard Operator to join our Team!
The Gatehouse/Yard operator is responsible for the efficient operation and management of a yard traffic from goods-in to outward bound traffic. The role involves coordination with various teams, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing workflow for maximum efficiency.
Direct vehicular traffic to different packhouse loading/unloading areas to maintain a smooth flow.
Monitor and report any unsafe conditions, obstructions, or potential hazards in the traffic flow.
Screening arrivals at the gate.
Locking premises for the night; checking territory perimeter during the shift, identifying and reporting any issues should they arise.
Effectively communicate with drivers, pedestrians, and other traffic control personnel.
Use hand signals, signs, or radio communication to convey instructions and information.
Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities, including the number of vehicles that have been booked and recording data of incoming and outgoing traffic.
Complete incident reports and documentation as required.
Understand company’s working systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
IT literate (Emails, Excel)
Knowledge of additional language is an advantage.
Previous experience in similar role is an advantage.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the need to communicate effectively with different nationalities.
Quick decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Be polite and helpful.
Understanding of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Good attention to detail required.
Night shift 4 on 4 off – 12-hour shifts – 19:00 – 07:00
Flexibility and own transport required due to location.
