New beginning for Turkey Hall Farm.

Planting will be finished later this year at Turkey Hall Farm, Upper Stoke on the Hoo Peninsular and the team have made terrific progress in planting most of the new 180-acre orchard by hand. The site was acquired on a long lease in late 2015 and it took around three months to clear. It is now planted with around 50,000 Cox, 48,000 Conference Pear and 42,500 Gala trees. Later this year a further 38,000 conference pear trees will be planted to finish it off.

Whilst the site looks a little bare now, the grass will soon return and by summer 2018, there will be sufficient fruit to harvest. Look out next year for a sea of blossom in the spring as you drive by. The orchards stretch around one mile in length so it should look fantastic!
