Open Farm Sunday, 5 June 2016.

AC Goatham & Son was delighted to be one of Sainsbury’s Ambassador Farms, which took part in Open Farm Sunday, on 5 June at The Barynyard, Gore Farm near Sittingbourne. Open Farm Sunday is a free event to bring farming and the public closer together and around 2,500 people came along to find out more about how their favourite apples and pears are grown on one of our 17 farms.

Along with beautiful shunshine to enjoy there was entertainment for all the family including farm tours, a showcase of farm machinery, nature trails, farm animals, story telling, food sampling and fun and games throughout the day, incuding apple bobbing.

Carol Ford comments: "We were thrilled to have such a beautiful sunny day to show visitors how the farm works and how we grow, store and distriubute our delicious fruit. It was also fantastic to see everyone enjoying munching on our beautiful Royal Gala Apples. We hope visitors look out for all 16 varieties of apples and pears we grow when the new season fruit starts to appear in shops from late August."
